稀土瓷砂滤料选用本地优质高岭土做原料，掺合一定量的成孔剂、粘结剂，经过炼泥、成型、干燥、烧成等工艺，粒度一般在0.5～32mm之间的多种规格，多用于机械过滤器、滤池滤料，能减少反冲洗量，增加接触面积和过滤表面积，特别是扩大吸附面积，提高滤池的截污能力，提高产水量和出水量，经化验各项物理化学性能均优于其它滤料，主要用于电力、化工石油、供排水的净化水处理。

稀砂土瓷滤料，具有以下优点：
a）瓷砂滤床初始水头损失小，对于延长滤池工作周期十分有利，瓷砂滤床终止水头损失小，可以降低滤池高度，节省基建费用；
b）瓷砂截污量大，一般在9～10kg／m3以内，约英砂滤池截污量（7.8～9kg／m3）的1.2～1.5倍；
c）瓷砂为球形表面，易清洗，反冲洗耗水量比石英砂降低能30～50％；
d）瓷砂强度大，磨耗率小，一般比石英砂滤料使用寿命长5倍以上；
e）瓷砂滤料均匀规整，装填方便，不易流失，无溶出有害物，无二次污染，特别适应于离子交换，反渗透处理装置中做预处理滤料或做树脂承托层，也可以用于活性炭吸附器的垫层；
f）根据水质情况，经特殊工艺处理，还可以做成除铁除锰瓷砂，除氟瓷砂等多用途滤料，或作为含油废水处理的粗粒化滤料，生物滤池的生物滤料等，去除铁，锰，氟，油及其它有机污染物。
