Special Features and Benefits
BYK-055 is especially effective in wood and furniture coatings based on glossy polyester, paraffin polyester, and
in radiation curable polyester. The additive allows curtain coaters to maintain curtain stability even when only thin
layers are applied. When using non-pigmented systems, a slight turbidity may be visible over dark wood. Good
results were also found with epoxy systems.
Recommended Use
Solvent-borne und solvent-free wood and furniture coatings.
Recommended Levels
0.1-1.5 % additive (as supplied) based upon total formulation.
The dosage levels are indicated for the purpose of orientation. Optimal dosage levels are determined through
series of tests.
Incorporation and Processing Instructions
To achieve optimal defoaming, the defoamer should be added to the millbase. If it is incorporated at a later time,
sufficient shear forces must be ensured in order to achieve good defoamer distribution and to prevent crater
formation.
