三螺杆泵的安装位置距油面太高，特别是在泵转速降低时，因不能保证泵吸油腔有必要的真空度造成吸油不足而吸入空气。此时应调整泵与油面的相对高度，使其知足划定的要求。

三螺杆泵的泵体与两侧端盖为直接接触的硬密封，若接触面的平面度达不到划定要求，则泵在工作时轻易吸入空气；同样，泵的端盖与压盖之间也为直接接触，空气也轻易侵入；若压盖为塑料制品，因为其损坏或因温度变化而变形，也会使密封不严而进入空气。排除这种故障的方法是：当泵体或泵盖的平面度达不到划定的要求时，可以在平板上用金钢砂按字形路线往返研磨，也可以在平面磨床上磨削，使其平面度不超过5μm，并需要保证其平面与孔的垂直度要求；对于泵盖与压盖处的泄漏，可采用涂敷环氧树脂等胶粘剂进行密封。
