The LAMBDA system is a compact, operator-friendly measuring instrument that facilitates a fast determination of thermal conductivity in a wide temperature and pressure range by means of the hot-wire method according to ASTM D2717. It is suited for fluid analysis in the laboratory as well as in the field, including the measurement of thermal conductivity of dispersions of nanoparticles (nano-fluids). The LAMBDA can be operated in the stand-alone mode or by any personal computer since it is equipped with a digital interface RS 232.

Fields of application For determining the thermal conductivity by means of the LAMBDA a small fluid sample of approx. 35 ml is sufficient. The sensor is simply immersed into the measuring fluid and in intervals of approx. 60 seconds the LAMBDA determines the thermal conductivity as well as the temperature of the fluid. The compact measuring instrument opens up new possibilities for the flexible application in laboratory or field:
