蓄电池在充放电过程中，电解液中的水会因为电解和蒸发而逐渐减少，导致电解液面下降。如果不及时补充的话，有可能缩短蓄电池的使用寿命，应及时补充蒸馏水。切忌用饮用纯净水代替，因为纯净水中含有多种微量元素，对蓄电池会造成不良影响。
给蓄电池添加电解液或水时要注意，电解液高过极板10至15毫米即可；有两条红线的蓄电池，电解液不得超过上红线。电解液太满会从蓄电池盖小孔中溢出。一旦流到蓄电池正、负两极之间，就会形成回路自放电。遇此情况就应将电解液擦掉，或用开水冲洗擦净。
加电解液时若有东西不慎掉入，千万不能用金属物去[2] 捞，应用木棒夹出杂质；如用铁丝或铜丝去捞，金属分子会在硫酸的腐蚀下进入蓄电池形成自放电而损坏蓄电池。
车辆停止运行若超过20天，应当拆卸电池的负极电线，以免发生漏电事故。
Matters needing attention

If not promptly added, it is possible to shorten the service life of the battery, should be added to the distilled water. Avoid using purified water instead of water, because pure water contains a variety of trace elements, the battery will cause adverse effects.
When adding electrolyte or water to the battery, be careful that the electrolyte is 10 to 15 millimeters higher than the plate, and that the battery with two red lines shall not exceed the upper red line. The electrolyte is too full and will overflow from the small hole in the battery cover. Once flowing between the positive and negative poles of the battery, the circuit will form a self discharge. In this case, the electrolyte should be rubbed off or rinsed with boiling water.
And if something inadvertently fall into the electrolyte, do not use metal to make [2] application, stick out impurities; such as wire or copper wire Qulao, metal elements in sulfuric acid corrosion into the battery self discharge and damage to the battery.
If the vehicle is stopped running for more than 20 days, the negative wire of the battery shall be removed so as to avoid leakage accident.
