光绪元宝（广东省造） 

清光绪十四年（1988年），广东首次购进由英国伯明翰喜敦造币厂的全套造币机械，并聘请外籍，开炉铸压机制钱。光绪十五年(1889年)由英国伯明翰喜敦造币厂制模，广东钱局试制首版机制龙洋（七钱二分银元），并有辅币四种。据悉汉字为光绪十二年底时任广东巡抚、著名金石家、书画家吴大澂所书。In the 14th year of Qing Emperor Guangxu(1988), Guangdong purchased for the first time a full set of mint machinery from the British Birmingham Hewitt Mint, and hired foreign technicians to open the furnace casting mechanism. 广东七二系列的币模由英国著名雕刻师艾伦·韦恩(Allan Wyon)设计雕刻，刻妥后由喜敦厂转交广东钱局，此事曾刊载于1888年5月19日的伦敦《Graphic》杂志。韦恩是德国移民的后裔，其祖父于19世纪初即在伦敦开办私人的雕刻坊，替各工厂制作钱币及奖章或纪念章用的模具，艾伦继父兄之后主持该工作坊，而非受聘于任何造币厂的雕刻师。显然各方合作愉快，故后来许多来自英国的中国钱币模具皆由艾伦操刀。
