In October 2018, Ant Insurance and Xinmei jointly launched "Mutual Treasure" for Ant Members (under 60 years old) with a score of 650 or more in sesame seeds. Users can join without paying for it. They can obtain 100 kinds of major diseases including malignant tumors, participate in cost-sharing when other people suffer from illness, and they can get one-time payment for their illness. As of May 8, 2019, the membership of Mutual Treasure has reached 57.84 million.
On the day of May 8th, Alipay also launched the "old version of mutual treasure" to set up a separate cancer prevention and support community for 60-70 year old people. If the elderly who meet the health requirements have malignant tumors after joining, they can apply for a maximum of 100,000 mutual aid, "one person is sick, everyone shares", and the amount of each person in a single mutual aid case does not exceed 1 yuan.
Liu Jiaming, CEO of micro insurance, explained that before the launch of Yaoshenbao, other commercial insurance or mutual assistance schemes on the market could only solve the problem of reimbursement of user fees, and could not solve the comprehensive challenges of high drug prices and long-term supply of anti-cancer drugs because they did not get through all the links of insurance and drug supply.
One of the major innovations of Yaoshenbao is to innovate the way of user protection, from expense reimbursement to drug supply. Weibao has inherited Tencent's Internet gene and connector positioning, opened up insurance companies and drug supply chains, and enabled drug suppliers to serve more users through insurance leverage.
For cooperation with easy-to-raise, industry insiders believe that the Mutual Aid Community may be a pilot field for the promotion of "Yaoshenbao" products.
Earlier, on March 27, Tencent led a new round of financing of 500 million yuan from Shuiduo Company, another major disease mutual aid platform. Combined with Tencent's user base, "Yaoshenbao" may be promoted in a shorter period of time.
