CBL-HDMI-MM High Definition Multimedia Interface, or HMDI, transmits pure digital video and digital audio over a single, easily managed cable. Like the DVI standard on which it is based, HDMI transmits uncompressed high-definition video with a theoretical bandwidth over 5Gb/sec, but adds 6-channel digital audio and a bi-directional control channel that lets components communicate with each other. The benefits of this new technology are significant: razor-sharp images over long cable lengths and without analog artifacts, multi-channel digital surround sound, components that automatically adjust to optimal settings, and the ability of the consumer to control multiple home theater components through a single remote.
