PTHC-2等离子弧压高度控制器利用等离子电源具有恒流的特性，在切割过程中，切割电流总是等于设定的电流，而切割的弧电压在固定的速度下跟随割炬与板材的高度变化而变化，当割炬与板材的高度增大时，弧电压上升；当割炬与钢板的高度减小时，弧电压下降。PTHC-Ⅱ弧压高度控制器就是通过检测弧电压的变化，通过控制割炬的升降电机来控制割炬与板材的距离，使弧电压保持不变，割炬高度同时也保持不变。
