Bayer MaterialScience LLC produces consistent, high-quality polycarbonate sheet under the Makrolon® polycarbonate sheet trade name. Forming and fabrication characteristics and techniques are comparable to those of other commercial polycarbonate sheet products. Makrolon® sheet is 300-times stronger than single-strength glass, and significantly tougher than other transparent sheet materials of equal thickness. It’s unlikely that Makrolon® sheet will break, shatter or chip when bombarded with thrown missiles such as rocks, bricks or bottles. Nor is it likely that this material will break when hammered, twisted or bent. Makrolon® polycarbonate sheets are offered in a variety of grades specifically designed for certain applications.
