活性炭过滤器的工作是通过炭床来完成的。组成炭床的活性炭颗粒有非常多的微孔和巨大的比表面积，具有很强的物理吸附能力。水通过炭床，水中有机污染物被活性炭有效地吸附。此外活性炭表面非结晶部分上有一些含氧管能团，使通过炭床的水中有机污染物被活性炭有效地吸附。利用活性炭去除水中低分子有机物、游离氯及异味物质、重金属离子。

设计流速15m/h，反冲洗强度10L/m2.s。

The work of the activated carbon is done by the carbon bed. There are so many tiny holes and huge surface are on the activated carbon particles of the carbon bed.The activated carbon can effectively absorb the organic dirty in the water when the water flow through the carbon bed. Besides on the surface of the activated carbon, there is matter with oxygne on the crystalline part, the organic matter in the water can be absorbed  when  through it.

Using activated carbon to purge  away the low molecular organics and free chlorine and peculiar smell and heavy metal lon.
