Double-lip seals (fig) are made from polyurethane, a wear-resistant material with very good elastic properties. These seals are split horizontally to facilitate installation. Operating data These seals are suitable for peripheral speeds of up to 8 m/s. The corresponding rotational speeds are given in thetable.
The maximum permissible misalignment of shaft relative to housing is approximately 1° for diameters up to some 100 mm and approximately 0,5° for larger shafts.
The permissible operating temperature range is –40 to +100 °C.
The permissible axial movement of shaft relative to housing is unlimited.
The counterfaces for the seals on the shaft should be ground and the surface roughness Rashould not exceed 3,2 μm. The recommended shaft tolerance is h9.
Designation The double-lip seals are supplied in packs of two, so that for housings at shaft ends where an end cover is used at one side, one seal will be left over and should be kept as a spare.
The seal designation consists of the prefix TSN followed by the size identification and the suffix G e.g. TSN 506 G. |
