Drag Reducing Agent (referred to as DRA) has been widely used as chemical additive in curde oil transporting, it can inhibit the flow resistance through control the turbulent bursts, so that it can effectively successfully achieved next functions: bringing up the pipeline throughput, saving energy, improving the HSE factor, etc.
As we all know, using additives (DRA) into oil to relieve the transporting difficult (like the pumping energy consumption, or pressure drop) is much easier and more convenient than the traditional methods. We only need simply connect the injection equipment onto pipelines. It won’t take a very long time, we can see the effects happened. If the additives are not needed any more, just remove the injection equipment would be fine, which in some sense reduce the investment of fixed assets. Therefore, utilizing our DRA products can increase the flexibility of pipelines.
DRA Application Case: Shi-Ke Pipeline

2.Application Requirements
The original minimum designed throughput has been increased from 180m3/h
to 285m3/h at a DRA dosage less than 20ppm, and to be future increased to 320m3/h at a DRA dosage no more than 30ppm.
3.Achievements
a.During the first stage of this application case, the pipeline throughput had been brought up to 285m3/h with an average dosage rate 18ppm. Throughput increasing rate: 58.3%.
b.At the second stage of this application case, the pipeline throughput had been brought up to 320m3/h with an average dosage rate 24ppm. Throughput increasing rate: 77.8%.
4.Comparison with other products
Two other kinds of DRA products (produced by different companies) were tested together with King Shine DRA produced by our company. Their performance are outlined asfollows:
