The history of vinification can be traced to 17th century. The winery used to belong to the church. And in
the small town of only 9000 residents, is near 10 km far away from Carcassonne. Chãteau Maurel is located
in the heard of Cabardès which has been named as a region of AOC in February, 1999. From 1973, Alain
Maurel become the owner of this winery. Then the whole family, father and three girls started the family
business together. Now, young enologist , Oliver Ramé created the high quality products with sucess
after his long trip in the wineries all over the word.
