卵石作用：
卵石的作用就是利用颗粒之间的缝隙，形成过滤水质的屏障，让水渗透过去，起到过滤水质的作用，一般情况是大颗粒在先，小细沙在后，不可以颠倒，否则小石卵没效果，水太脏的话，石英砂滤层会阻力加大。
卵石碎石可以有效的改善混凝土的工作性能，对其流动性、粘聚性等均有很大的提高；但对高强度（大于C40）混凝土来说，单纯使用卵石，因其表面比较光滑，其浆体与粗骨料之间的握裹力会很大程度的下降，会影响混凝土强度。 碎石虽不会出现上述情况，但是如果在其颗粒级配不合理的情况下，会造成混凝土和易性变差、泌水、甚至也会影响其强度。
卵石被广泛应用于电厂变压器使用、水处理滤料垫层、公共建筑、别墅、庭院、园林路面铺设、河道大堤、湖底、化工厂、污水厂、钢厂、自来水厂等工程材料。
