Scope
This specification covers lightweight aluminum interlock armor type MC cable with Compact strand 8000 series aluminum alloy conductors,cross-linked polyethylene XLPE insulation Insulated XHHW-2 Singles, conforming to Standard 1569 of Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. UL file No.E313205 .
Application
Type MC cables Suitable for use in branch, feeder and service power distribution under high ambient temperature in commercial, industrial, institutional, casinos and multi-residential buildings; for power, lighting, control and signal circuits; in concealed or exposed installations; in environmental air-handling spaces per NEC 300.22; in places of assembly per NEC 518.4 and theaters per NEC 520.5; in aerial applications when attached to a messenger; for installation in cable tray and approved raceways; under raised floors for IT equipment per NEC 645.5(D) and 645.5(D)(2); Class I Div 2, Class II Div 2, Class III Div 1 hazardous locations.

Insulation: Color coded cross-linked polyethylene XLPE insulation. The cable ground is either bare or has green insulation. Thickness: per UL44.
Color coding:
Cabling: Three or more conductors are assembled without fillers and wraped by a polyester binder tape. A marker tape is inserted under the binder tape.
Armor: Aluminum interlock armor is applied over the assembly.
Jacket: An overall black polyvinyl chloride PVC jacket, which is heat, moisture and sunlight resistant.
Information on the marker tape or the jacket: AWG or kcmil size, conductor type letters, rated voltage, the name of the manufacturer, UL file number, characteristic, manufacture date, FEET.
