Properties / Mode of Action
FABUTIT ® 588 is an aluminium phosphate composition, which is developed for the use with
potassium silicates.
FABUTIT ® 588 hydrolyses in the alkaline environment of alkaline silicates to an acidic
aluminium orthophosphate. This acidic component leads to the building of a silicate network
and hence to the hardening of the silicate bonded mass without heat treatment. At the same
time network forming substances replace the network modifying alkali ions to obtain water- and
acid resistance. Due to the specific modification, FABUTIT ® 588 shows an accelerated pot life
compared to our standard hardener FABUTIT ® 758.
Applications
FABUTIT ® 588 is aluminiumphosphate composition, which is especially developed for
accelerated applications with potassium silicates. The addition ratio is between 20 and 30 % of
the solid content of the silicate.
FABUTIT ® 588 is premixed to the dry raw materials. When using liquid silicates, the silicate
solution is added subsequently. FABUTIT ® 588 cannot be mixed directly into the liquid water
glass, because of immediate reactions.
The pot life of such a compound is approximately 30 - 60 min, depending on the addition ratio,
the ambient temperature and the type and module of the used alkaline silicate.
Standard Packaging
Paper bags with PE-lining, 25 kg, net weight.
Storage
3 years, if stored under dry conditions in the original sealed bags.
