The system: 3D measurement of hob cutters
The IF-EdgeMasterHOB is an optical 3D cutting edge measurement device to measure inpidual teeth of hob cutters. Users measure the hobs´ radii and angles at the tooth flank, the tooth root as well as on the tooth tip. The large working distance of the system allows flexible positioning, thus enabling the access to inpidual teeth.
The function: Measurement of form, chipping and roughness
Users measure radii, wedge angle, basket arch form (both “waterfall” and “trumpet” type) as well as positive and negative bevels of a cutting edge. In addition, both chipping and traceable roughness measurement is provided. High resolution measurements are achieved even in a production environment under conditions such as ambient light, temperature fluctuations and vibration. Wear measurement and the automatic comparison to correspondent CAD data are further applications.

The IF-EdgeMaster is an optical 3D cutting edge measurement system that is typically used to measure inserts. Various grips allow the measurement of further components such as drills, milling cutters and other tap tools. The cutting edge system is resistant to vibrations, temperature fluctuations and ambient light, making to an ideal tool for 3D measurements in production. Users measure form, radii and chipping of cutting edges. Small radii and angles are measured regardless of type, size, material and surface finish. The IF-EdgeMasterHOB is a branch-specific adaption of the IF-EdgeMaster.
The technology: Focus-Variation for area based 3D surface measurement
IF-EdgeMasterHOB is based on Focus-Variation. The technology‘s high measurement point density enables form and roughness measurement of surfaces across large measurement areas and volumes. Every measurement &#118alue automatically includes information for estimating the measurement uncertainty. As an area based technology, Focus-Variation is already included to the most recent EN ISO 25178.
